: intergovernmental marine research organization for the North Atlantic headquartered in Denmark, although its web site has a science focus, the documents present explain current trends in ways useful to non-scientists.

International Maritime Organization (IMO)
: home of the United Nations agency responsible for maritime safety and ship pollution, as well as secretariat for the Convention on the Prevention of Marine Pollution by Dumping of Wastes and Other Matters (MARPOL), includes the text of conventions, information circulars issued by the IMO, and other ship safety and pollution prevention materials.
